Maybe its because we’ve been writing more proposals lately, but I’ve been thinking a lot about the process of clients choosing their marketing partner, and how it can be tough to get right. Especially if you’re a small business choosing a marketing partner for the first time. (more…)
A little more than a year ago, Crystal and I set off on the Wild Daughters journey. If our scarce blog posts are an indication of our schedules during the last year, it means we’ve been pretty busy! The marketer in me is scolding myself for letting content generation slide for this long. The new mom in me is groaning over the fact that I’m writing this when I have the opportunity to nap.
A lot has changed during the last year. Crystal and I both started new “office” jobs – at the same company, of course – in addition to continuing our Wild Daughters work. I had a kiddo, who has become the full-time boss of me, and Crystal and her family are in the process of converting their barn to a house. Her barn/ homestead project is very cool – and eco friendly – very Crystal.
Simultaneously, we’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with Wild Daughters clients and pursue our goal of using our experience to help brands that are good for the earth and good for the soul.
During the past few months we’ve had the opportunity to work with a client, Modgy, on restructuring their e-commerce site on Shopify. Modgy creates modern home goods – like luminaries, vases, portable dog bowls, and their newest product: wine glass shades. Their products are awesome for apartment or dorm living where space is limited. Or, for homes with children who run wild and could break a vase or tip over a candle. I don’t have kids, but from what I understand, this encompasses pretty much every household with small humans.

But creating a custom shop that fulfilled the unique needs of our client and took full advantage of Shopify’s capabilities presented some challenges. Needless to say, we learned lots of tricks for working with this particular e-commerce platform and wanted to share 5 tips for building a Shopify e-commerce site.
Often times we marketing people get wrapped up in our jobs. A line of copy, shade of color or layout of a web page becomes an enormously important detail. It must be right! You’d think we were saving lives.
Most of the time we’re not saving lives. We’re increasing sales, promoting products and perfecting a press release.
But sometimes, we get to be involved in a project that really can save lives. And then, those seemingly small details can make a difference. (more…)
For most of us, “content creator” isn’t in our job title. Even if we’re in a marketing role, we own many responsibilities, with creating content or managing a content calendar being just a couple. For business owners, writing blog posts, e-newsletters or social media updates are on a long list of tasks.
I’m a marketer with full knowledge of the benefits of creating content and it took me 3 weeks to write this post. Three weeks!
Knowing it’s not easy, here are tips for creating content and a content calendar you can stick to. (more…)
