If Choosing a Marketing Firm Were Like Dating

wilddaughters_marketingdating

Maybe its because we’ve been writing more proposals lately, but I’ve been thinking a lot about the process of clients choosing their marketing partner, and how it can be tough to get right. Especially if you’re a small business choosing a marketing partner for the first time. read more…

Wild Daughters Update: A Year In The Making

wilddaughters_update

A little more than a year ago, Crystal and I set off on the Wild Daughters journey. If our scarce blog posts are an indication of our schedules during the last year, it means we’ve been pretty busy! The marketer in me is scolding myself for letting content generation slide for this long. The new mom in me is groaning over the fact that I’m writing this when I have the opportunity to nap.

A lot has changed during the last year. Crystal and I both started new “office” jobs – at the same company, of course – in addition to continuing our Wild Daughters work. I had a kiddo, who has become the full-time boss of me, and Crystal and her family are in the process of converting their barn to a house. Her barn/ homestead project is very cool – and eco friendly – very Crystal.

Simultaneously, we’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with Wild Daughters clients and pursue our goal of using our experience to help brands that are good for the earth and good for the soul.

WD Presents Wild Women Series

WildWomen_heroimage_intro

Being that Wild Daughters is a two-woman show, Chrissy and I can’t help but reflect on how both our career paths benefitted from having strong women mentors. The lessons they taught us were invaluable, and we know there were so many more women out there with stories to tell, and guidance to give. The Wild Women series is our way of showcasing those we’ve met along the way that have inspired us and continue to motivate us with their amazing accomplishments, and feats of womanly wonder.

5 Tips For Building A Shopify E-Commerce Site

WildDaughters_shopifytips

During the past few months we’ve had the opportunity to work with a client, Modgy, on restructuring their e-commerce site on Shopify. Modgy creates modern home goods – like luminaries, vases, portable dog bowls, and their newest product: wine glass shades. Their products are awesome for apartment or dorm living where space is limited. Or, for homes with children who run wild and could break a vase or tip over a candle. I don’t have kids, but from what I understand, this encompasses pretty much every household with small humans.

Building an e-commerce shop on Shopify is pretty simple. It’s an out-of-the-box solution that most computer-literate business owners can manage. But creating a custom shop that fulfilled the unique needs of our client and took full advantage of Shopify’s capabilities presented some challenges. Needless to say, we learned lots of tricks for working with this particular e-commerce platform and wanted to share 5 tips for building a Shopify e-commerce site.

The Importance of Design for Your Small Business

The Importance of Design for Your Small Business

With the onset of desktop publishing, graphic design has become synonymous with any graphic made on a computer by anyone who has the tools to do it. On one hand, it’s a good thing. As a business owner, it puts graphic design at the forefront of your mind as something that is a necessary part of doing business. But on the other hand it adds a bit of confusion to what it is that graphic designers actually do and it’s made finding a reputable designer a bit harder. Not because reputable designers don’t exist, but because the value of what designers do has been diminished. Why pay good money for something that you could just do yourself, or get for super cheap, right? read more…
