“The original oil painting is of a sculpture I made that is part of a series of pieces I started with my daughter. We wanted to create little fantastical worlds out of clay that we could see ourselves stepping into. I started making these sculptures during a time when I was struggling with my mental health and felt like my world was spiraling out of control and these pieces were one way of using creativity to process what was going on inside me.” - Crystal Madrilejos
